Dr. Smita Bagrecha is an internationally trained Ophthalmic Surgeon and Glaucoma Consultant with work experience of over 16 years both in India as well as in Australia & Canada. Her professional career includes advanced training from renowned eye institutes - Glaucoma Fellowship from Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Melbourne,Australia and Comprehensive Ophthalmology Fellowship from Shri Ganapati Netralaya, India.
She has significant years of working experience at Alfred & RVEEH Hospitals in Australia and the topmost children's hospital of NorthAmerica - Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto, Canada.
Her clinical and surgical expertise is primarily in Cataract and Glaucoma (both adult and pediatric glaucoma) surgeries. These skills have been developed by the diversity, volume and complexity of the surgeries that she has performed working both nationally and internationally with advanced tertiary care eye institutes. Dr. Smita has performed about7000 Phacoemulsification’s (no stitch cataract surgery) and about 3000 glaucoma surgeries with the advanced technique, with high success in complicated cases.
Besides private practice, Dr. Smita is keenly involved in charitable work. For the past 10 years she was associated with Netra Jyoti Seva Mandiram, an NGO based in Rajgir, Bihar where she provided significant service.
She is interested in academics and has conducted seminars and done presentations in national and international conferences and meetings like SEAGIG and IMAGE at Hongkong and Australia.
