Head of Department: Dr Ingrid Athaide

We can change the hands of time, beat the crippling effects of ageing and help you take on one of the biggest killers of the 21st century – stress.

None of these involves miracle cures. Whether helping children catch up with developmental milestones, putting stroke victims back on their feet or using simple remedies to improve the quality of life of senior citizens, our Department of Physiotherapy is committed to helping patients with the 3Rs – Recovery, Repair and Rehabilitation.

Using a wealth of experience and handling each case with utmost care, our team is equipped to treat an array of musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory and neurological conditions where physiotherapy is the primary treatment. These include post-operative patients, victims of traumatic injury and very young children with development disorders.

Physical rehabilitation is also an essential part of recovery for patients being treated for diseases that affect their mobility as a secondary condition and those who suffer long periods of inactivity.

Our department is also the preferred treatment facility for Paediatric Rehabilitation across Mumbai. Our paediatric therapist works with complex and challenging cases that often leave parents amazed at the range and depth of conditions that can be successfully treated with physical therapies.

Helping You Help Yourself
The world of medicine calls it physical therapy or physiotherapy. We call it ‘independence training’ because once therapy is on course, we assume the role of catalyst or facilitator. While each case presents its own unique challenges, we encourage patients to become active participants in their own recovery plan so that they achieve maximum functional independence.

Recovery does not take place in isolation and physical rehabilitation is more than a special physical regimen. Recovery and rehabilitation inevitably involves the patient's family, other caregivers and social milieu.

So to facilitate therapy and make it as painless as possible, we counsel relatives on the nature of the patient’s condition, prognosis and ways in which they can assist and complement therapy. This is usually the case with patients who are very young and adults with severely debilitating conditions.

We therefore adopt a holistic approach that calls for patience and an unusual sense of commitment from our team of highly skilled, young and extremely motivated physiotherapists. And we go the extra mile every single time.
