In the interest of accuracy, kindly observe the following dos and don’ts.

  • Do not eat or drink (only water is permissible) from 9 pm the previous night until after your fasting blood sample has been collected. A light breakfast will be served, after which you may take your medication, if necessary.
  • Diabetic patients : Do not take any anti-diabetic drugs in the morning.  However, carry your tablets / insulin to be taken with breakfast.
  • Hypertension / Heart Disease patients : If the plan you have selected includes a Stress Test (Treadmill Test) do not take beta-blockers (eg, Atenolol, Metaprolol) 48 hours prior to the stress test. These drugs are known to interfere with the response to the test and its interpretation. You may consult your family physician.
  • Do not consume any alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Contact lens users : Do not use semi-soft contact lenses 48 hours prior to your check-up and any type of contact lenses 12-24 hours prior to your eye check-up.
  • If you use spectacles, remember to carry them with you.
  • Morning sample of urine will be collected in the Department.
  • X-ray tests are not conducted if you are likely to be pregnant. Please advise the medical staff accordingly.
  • Ensure that you bring all your previous medical reports if any, especially mammography and sonography reports and your current medication.
  • Please wear loose clothing and minimum jewellery.
